Cellulose shrink seals are recommended for sealing 15x100mm petri plates. It is a cellulose shrink seal designed to keep petri plate lids tightly sealed. Sealed plates retain their moisture and stay fresh longer. Ideal for mycology and TB cultures, MycoSeal™ prevents dehydration and cracking of the media and yet still allows both oxygen and carbon dioxide gas exchange. The tight seal also prevents the accidental release of mycobacteria and fungal spores. They are also recommended for use with the "micro colony" method for early detection of mycobacteria growing on a Middlebrook 7H11 Agar Plate.
[A cellulose shrink seal to keep the lids of petri plates tightly sealed. Plates retain their moisture to stay fresh for longer periods of time. Ideal for mycology or TB cultures to prevent dehydration and cracking of the media. Also as a safety feature, it prevents spores from becoming airborne. Seals are water soluble. Simply place the seal around the perimeter of the plate and let it remain at room temperature for about an hour. The seal will then dry and shrink to fit tightly, while maintaining permeability to CO2 and O2. Seal can be easily cut if removal is desired. For 15x100mm plates.
