We are committed to providing only quality products for the detection of microorganisms, as we partner with our customers to diagnose and prevent disease.
Full Spectrum Innovation
HardyCHROM™ is Hardy Diagnostics’ line of chromogenic, selective and differential culture media, recommended for use in primary cultivation and isolation of microorganisms. Hardy Diagnostics was the first company to introduce chromogenic media to the United States in 1996. Check out our extensive selection of products that identify bacteria and yeast by colony color.
HardyCHROM™ SS NoPro (no-Proteus) Agar is recommended for the selective isolation and differentiation of Salmonella and Shigella spp. from stool. HardyCHROM™ SS NoPro Agar is intended as a primary screening tool to distinguish Salmonella and Shigella spp. from non-pathogenic enteric bacteria based on colony color, while inhibiting the growth and characteristic swarming of Proteus spp. The enhanced inhibition of Proteus reduces the expense involved in working up non-pathogens that could mimic enteric pathogens.

HardyCHROM™ CRE Agar
HardyCHROM™ CRE Agar is a selective and differential chromogenic medium, containing a carbapenem, intended for use as a plating technique to obtain a pure culture of gram-negative bacteria that produce carbapenemase. HardyCHROM™ CRE Agar is not intended to diagnose infections by carbapenem-resistant bacteria, guide or monitor treatment for infections, or provide susceptibility results to a carbapenem. Sub-culturing is necessary for microorganism identification, susceptibility testing, and epidemiological typing.
15x100mm, 10/pk, Cat. no. G323
HardyCHROM™ MRSA is a selective and differential culture medium that facilitates the isolation and identification of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) to aid in the prevention and control of MRSA infections in health care settings. The test is performed on anterior nares swabs from patients and healthcare workers to screen for MRSA colonization.
15x100mm, 10/pk, Cat. no. G307
HardyCHROM™ ESBL is a selective and differential chromogenic medium which is intended for the qualitative and presumptive detection from stool specimens of: 1) Enterobacteriaceae that are potentially non-susceptible to ceftazidime and cefpodoxime; and 2) Extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Klebsiella oxytoca.
ESBL or Extended Spectrum Beta Lactamases refer to a group of enzymes produced by some species of bacteria that can mediate the organism’s resistance to one or more broad spectrum penicillins and cephalosporin antibiotics. Hardy Diagnostics is proud to offer this breakthrough culture media that will help screen ESBL quickly and more efficiently from stool specimen.

AST Testing Media
Our new tile-less system allows for fast results for the cultivation and identification of beta-hemolytic strains of
Group B Streptococcus.
Strep B Carrot Broth One-Step is used to screen for Group B Streptococcus in pregnant women prior to delivery. Our one-step test is an improvement over conventional methods by increasing sensitivity, decreasing turn-around time, and lowering overall cost. All formulary components are now included in the broth, so the use of additional tiles is no longer necessary. Positives require no confirmatory testing!
- Easy one-step process! Adding tiles is no longer necessary.
- Easy read-out. Development of any orange to red color indicates a positive result.
- For positives, there is no need for further subculturing to confirm.
- Lower cost when compared to the LIM Broth method.
- Carrot Broth was found to be more sensitive than LIM Broth and even PCR!
- Can be used with liquid and gel-based transport systems.
- Negative cultures from Strep B Carrot Broth should be subcultured to detect weakly or non-hemolytic strains of GBS.
- Carrot Broth One Step is available in multiple formats that work on many automated inoculating machines.
Clinical testing of Carrot Broth One-Step demonstrated a sensitivity of 98.8% and a specificity of 98.2% for the recovery of Group B Streptococcus from patient specimens when compared to LIM Broth.

Consistent Staining for a Perfect Slide Every Time!
Want to eliminate tech to tech variation from your manual staining processes? Want to avoid excessive decolorization? Want to avoid the mess manual staining introduces to your lab? Look no further than QuickSlide Automated Slide Staining Instruments from Hardy Diagnostics. Wether it be Gram stains on the GramPRO or Wright-Giemsa hematology stains on the HemaPRO, QuickSlide can standardize your manual process, eliminating tech to tech variation all while freeing techs to move on to other tasks. Ensure a perfect stain at the push of a button with QuickSlide Automated Slide Stainers.
The QuickSlide™ GramPRO 1 is a single slide automated Gram stainer, equipped with the world’s most consistent decolorizing technology. Of course, with Gram staining there’s likelihood for variation among technicians, especially regarding decolorization. Our patented photo optic “eye” carefully analyzes each Gram stain as would any experienced technologist. Perform Gram stains all day long with no variation among technologists, regardless of expertise. With the press of a button, automated Gram staining has never been so elegant and precise! Unlike many Gram stainers, the GramPRO 1 requires minimal cleaning procedures allow your team to focus on processing more and cleaning less.
The HemaPRO™ Slide Stainer is a valuable addition for any laboratory, especially those pursuing automation and standardization in the lab. Utilizing an advanced cuvette, the HemaPRO™ provides consistent results with precise reagent delivery to specimens. The HemaPRO™ is equipped with customizable stain settings to obtain the preferred color intensity of specimens. No need to monitor remaining reagents as this unit will notify the user once depleted. Including the reagents and unit, its small and compact size requires only one square foot of counter space!
