| Iodine Regulations
Iodine has been used for the manufacturing of illegal drugs. In order to control its use, Congress passed stricter legislation that was effective on August 1, 2007 (see 21 CFR Parts 1309 and 1310). These laws allow the continued use of iodine for microbiology use, but require all sellers to be registered with Drug Enforcement Agencies and all purchasers to disclose their identification information to acquire this highly regulated chemical.
How does this affect my iodine order?
Hardy Diagnostics complies with all state and federal iodine regulations by requiring that all customers purchasing regulated iodine products disclose their identification information in order to receive their products. This information includes the laboratory license number and/or CLIA number, driver’s license number, and street address of the laboratory. The State of California requires a 21-day hold on all regulated products before delivery in order to verify the identity of customer. Therefore, it is best to plan ahead when ordering these regulated iodine products.
